Annabel Abbs

1964*, London, UK

Annabel has written 8 books, which have been translated into over 30 languages.

She writes (under the names Abbs and Streets) both fiction and non fiction with a special interest in walking, women’s health and women of the past. Her work spans memoir, biography, history, journalism and science and is deeply researched.  Several of her books have won or been shortlisted for awards including the 2024 French Grand Prix for Best Foreign Fiction which went to her most recent novel, Miss Eliza. Her non-fiction book on walking, Windswept, was shortlisted for the 2022 Best First Biography Prize and the 2022 Banff Best Outdoor Book Award.

Her latest book, ‘Sleepless: Discovering the Power of the Night Self’, was The Bookseller Book of the Month and Times Book of the Week. Annabel also writes for dozens of magazines and newspapers including The Observer, The Guardian, The Paris Review, Tatler, the Washington Post and many others. She appears regularly on podcasts, and is a Fellow of the Brown Foundation. She lives in London with her family.
