eva susova is an interdisciplinary artist whose endeavours unfold from the intersection of visual arts and choreography. They predominantly work with the medium of performance, sound, sculpture and writing. Their research focuses on female voices and embodied knowledge. Both themes are reflected in their concepts and translations using the voice and body as subject and physical material.
During their stay at Fundaziun Nairs, they hope to further their ongoing inquiry into deep entanglements of somatics, sound and ecology.
To navigate this research, they explore various methods used by post-modern choreographers and composers, such as listening, movement research, and improvisation to guide their research. They plan to ‚forage‘ data, using sensors, from the surrounding ecosystem and interpret them by voice synthesis. To enable that, they developed with Niels de Bakker customised sensors, a controller and a recorder. They use this technology to stimulate the imagination and awareness of the seemingly inaudible presence.
eva susova (CZ) lives and works in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
The collaboration with Niels de Bakker was made possible by Mondriaan Fonds. eva’s residency at Fundaziun Nairs is supported by Stichting Stokroos.
