Siliang Ma

*1979, Beijing, China

Ma Siliang is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice interrogates the evolving entanglement between technical images and visual perception. Through photography, 3D reality, algorithmic processes, and data visualization, he examines how contemporary image-making apparatuses mediate and reconstruct our ways of seeing.

His recent work centers on deconstructing the logic of the apparatus, questioning the perceived ideological neutrality of algorithmic systems while exploring the symbiotic tension between human agency and machine intelligence.

In Ma’s practice, the image is not merely a representation but a performative ecosystem—one that reveals the ephemeral ecologies shaping the threshold between digital and physical landscapes.

Ma Siliang holds a BA from the University of the Arts London and an MA from the Royal College of Art. He currently lives and works in Beijing.
