Mirjam Steffen is a visual artist, researcher, and curator, working both independently and as part of various collectives. Her practice centers on both conscious and unconscious forms of coexistence, critically examining the strategies and power structures that shape our world in order to disrupt, reimagine, and transform them.
In her artistic research, she explores themes such as belonging, shared spaces, and alternative ways of living—from family structures to communal lifestyles—as well as gender roles, gender identity, Motherhood and utopian theory. Her work spans a variety of media, including film, photography, writing, audio recordings, text, curatorial practice, construction, and spatial design.
