Nelke Mast

1998*, Amsterdam, Netherlands

Nelke Mast (she/her), alias NELLY DANSEN, is a conceptual artist born in a Frisian Forest and raised in a House of Punks. NELLY’s work primarily explores erotic capital, femininity, and the fragmented nature of contemporary identity. Recurring themes in her work include breaking down the Freudian Madonna vs. The Whore dichotomy and researching the concept of Love in The Digital Age. In autofictive fashion, she approaches these topics with intertextuality, critical humor, and Joie De Vivre. By blurring the boundaries of reality and fiction with hyperreal, exaggerated aesthetics, she aims to disorient, captivate and critique our zeitgeist through a feminist lens.

In 2023, NELLY  graduated with a Master’s in ArtScience from the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague, earning the title “Best Graduate of 2023” from GOGbot. Her film Head Over Heels recently won the “Best Narrative Feature”  award at Chicago Underground Film Festival 2024.
