Tim Ross

*2001, Den Haag

Tim Ross is a visual artist interested in his German history and its archives, collective memory, and family archives. His curiosity is rooted in how history is preserved in personal spheres, and how memory is shaped by what is preserved, forgotten, or reinterpreted. Rather than aiming for closure, his practice emphasizes the tension between fact and interpretation. Working across installation and sculpture by using materials such as inherited paper and objects, he employs reproduction, re-contextualization, and material experimentation to surface the distortions and gaps embedded within family archives. An animal, inherited from a story passed down through his family, recurs throughout the work as a narrator, a displaced witness standing in where human memory falls short or turns unreliable.
