Arianne Olthaar (1970) is a visual artist based in The Hague, the Netherlands. She portrays and documents disappearing, hidden and fictional interiors in film, photography and miniature models. The focus is on interiors that are in some way secluded and easily overlooked – such as the interiors she remembers from her dreams, a fictional Rainer WernerFassbinder film decor, the spacious and luxurious state hotels of the former Eastern Bloc in the 1970s and 80s, or the interiors of dining carson long-distance trains. Olthaar’s work has been shown internationally at exhibitions and film festivals including International Film FestivalRotterdam, Media City Film Festival, Videoex, EMAF, New York FilmFestival, Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin.
