Lucy Cordes Engelman

Lucy Cordes Engelman is a research-based artist and filmmaker working across moving image, installation, performance, and writing. Her practice investigates forms of knowledge embedded in landscape and material processes, with particular attention to ecological, feminist, and mythological frameworks.
Engaging elements such as water, light, sound, and analogue film as active collaborators, her work embraces uncertainty, transformation, and the agency of non-human forces. She often works with non-linear structures and site-responsive methods to explore how place shapes perception, memory, and narrative. Approaching cinema as a spatial and embodied experience, Engelman creates environments that invite attunement to subtle rhythms and temporalities. Her practice seeks to open spaces for reflection on coexistence, interdependence, and alternative ways of sensing and understanding the world. Born in Washington DC she is now based in Amsterdam.
