In her artistic practice, Rebecca Grundmann confronts personal truths and seemingly unalterable circumstances that shape our daily lives. She is interested in these rigid structures to uncover a world of artificiality and absurdity; cultural norms as a facade, a feigned sense of stability. In her own work, Grundmann is curious about their artistic appropriation into new contexts, what happens when the well-known and familiar is rendered in a new light.
Rebecca Grundmann was born in 1995 and was raised in Birmingham, England. She studied Fine Art at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, where she graduated as a master student of Prof. Rita McBride in 2021.
Her work has been part of several exhibitions and projects, such as Appendage (2025), solo show at b10b.series, Düsseldorf; Trajectories (2023) with Katerina Matsagkos at F.E.A. | ΦΑΙΑ, Athens; Biennale für Freiburg (2023); Düsseldorf Photo+ (2020); and the Biennale Architettura, Venice, IT (2018), as part of the group project Île Flottante.
