Selma Alihodžić ist Architektin und lebt in Basel. Ihre multidisziplinäre Praxis umfasst Architektur, ortsspezifische Installationen und kulturelle Vermittlung. Im Zentrum steht ein empathischer Gestaltungsansatz, der räumliche, soziale und kulturelle Kontexte miteinander verbindet. In enger Zusammenarbeit mit Kulturinstitutionen entwickelt sie Projekte, die architektonische Präzision mit künstlerischen und ortsspezifischen Prozessen vereinen. Ihre Arbeiten wurden international gezeigt – unter anderem bei der 14. Architekturbiennale Venedig, der 4. Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism, der 5. Biennale Svizzera del Territorio und der 5. Venice Design Biennale. Neben ihrer Praxis hält sie Vorträge, lehrte an der Staatlichen Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart und publiziert regelmässig in Fachmedien sowie mit dem Lovie Award ausgezeichneten Podcast This Is Basel. Einen besonderen Schwerpunkt bildet der interkulturelle Dialog, den sie durch kuratorische Formate und Kooperationen mit Institutionen in Basel, Seoul und Tokyo aktiv gestaltet.

Selma Alihodžić is an architect based in Basel. Her multidisciplinary practice spans architecture, site-specific installations, and cultural mediation. At its core is an empathetic design approach that interweaves spatial, social, and cultural contexts. In close collaboration with cultural institutions, she develops projects that combine architectural precision with artistic and site-responsive processes.
Her work has been shown internationally — including at the 14th Venice Architecture Biennale, the 4th Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism, the 5th Biennale Svizzera del Territorio, and the 5th Venice Design Biennale among others.
In addition to her practice, she lectures, has taught at the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart, and publishes regularly in professional media including the award winning podcast THIS IS BASEL. A particular focus of her work is intercultural dialogue, which she actively fosters through curatorial formats and collaborations with institutions in Basel, Seoul, and Tokyo.
